We offer different kinds of appointments for different goals:
Planning Session*
If you鈥檙e brainstorming and planning, schedule a Planning Session鈥.
A typical planning session will involve:鈥
- Discussing assignment specifics with a tutor鈥
- Developing a timeline to make sure you finish before the assignment is due鈥
- Setting up additional Writing Center appointments as needed鈥
- Discussing first steps of the work鈥
Accountability Appointment鈥*
If you鈥檙e drafting and getting work done, schedule an Accountability Appointment鈥.
A typical accountability appointment will involve:鈥
- In the first five minutes, you'll discuss your writing goals for the session with your tutor鈥
- You will spend the bulk of time working on your own as your tutor works beside you鈥
- If you have any questions or need help getting "unstuck," the tutor will help you out鈥
- In the last minutes, you'll talk about the progress you made and plan next steps鈥
Feedback Session
If you鈥檙e working on revision and polishing, schedule a Feedback Session鈥.
A typical feedback session will involve:鈥
- You will provide the written work you've completed to the session or upload it to your appointment slot before hand鈥
- The tutor will spend the first five minutes getting a sense of what you want to achieve in the session and set reasonable expectations for the time鈥
- From there, the tutor will review the document with you, looking for strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement鈥
- The goal is to develop your skills as you work together鈥
- At the end of the session, you'll review what got done.鈥
| * Please note: Planning Sessions and Accountability Appointments cannot be held using our asynchronous E-Tutoring modality. These kinds of session can only be done face-to-face or through an online, streaming appointment. |
