Dr. Emily Junkin
Assistant Professor
Bio
Dr. Junkin received her Ph.D. from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, which was comprised of Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, and Eastern Virginia Medical School. Her research centers on alcohol use among young adults, and she has specific interests in the diagnostic criteria related to impaired control over alcohol use, alcohol's intersection with other health behaviors (e.g., eating), and motivations and preferences for brief substance-related interventions. Dr. Junkin currently directs the College Health, Environment, and Experimental Research on Substances (CHEERS) Lab, which includes a simulated bar laboratory that allows for the examination of ecologically valid alcohol-related contexts in experimental research. Clinically, Dr. Junkin has interests in working with college students and completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Delaware's Center for Counseling and Student Development.
